Ein interessanter Artikel zum Thema auf der Workingdog Seite:
Comparing PennHIP and OFA
Und hier noch ein sehr interessanter Text aus einem englischen Forum, die haben es wieder aus einem amerikanischen Forum.

Here the post....
here's some facts
hip dysplasia is abnormal hip conformation , djd is abnormal , laxitity is abnormal , shallow acetabulum is abnormal . simple as that .
djd (developemental joint disease) is just what it says "developemental" an ofa mildly dysplastic dog will not have djd at 2yrs + of age , will either have excessive laxitity or shallow acetabulum . young dogs , even dysplastic dogs do not have djd unless they are severely dysplastic .
ofa will tell you on an adult dog 2+yrs of age whether or not the dog is dysplastic or not at that given time . i believe they look for 2/3rds parallel , 50% coverage by the acetabulum , and signs of djd . well parallel is easy enough to see , amount of coverage is also easy to see , djd can be easily seen if it's there , it's a picture , it takes like a second , it's not rocket science to spot a dysplastic/abnormal hip . the problem is to grade it accurately , there is a fine line between excellent and a very good hip , there is a fine line between a marginally fair hip and a barely mildly dysplastic hip . the other problem with many breeds is low end hip conformation is the norm , so given a choice a lot of breeders don't like ofa , because of the stigma with breeding "dysplastic" dogs . they need to be breeding marginal dogs , some of the better dogs may not even be marginal , they are clearly dysplastic . well with the "hip hype" that doesn't fly . so what would you do ?
pennhip , can be done on a 4-5 month old dog ( mildly dysplastic dogs may go a lifetime without developing djd ) the DI's are breed specific , they're not comparing the hip to normal hips , they're comparing the hip to hips normal for the breed .
pennhip is going to check for passive hip laxitity , they theorize that passive hip laxitity correlates with developing djd . they say if your dog is less than .3 they will most likely never develope djd .they say if it's .3-.5 it's in a "gray area " they say the higher the DI the greater the chances of the dog developing DJD . they theorize that the DI's are breed specific , a ddb can be .7 , a bullmastiff can be like .5 , i believe an AB can be somewhere around .5-.6 . you may check my numbers i'm sure thety are close .
pennhip will predict the chances of whether or not your dog will become dysplastic . looking for djd on a young dog is not really something that means much . they do not call your dog dysplastic , they say it is over or under the median and rank it with other dogs of it's breed . they suggest breeding animals under the median , a ddb with a .69 is under the median , but this is over the median for american bulldogs , which are over the median for bullmastiffs , so pennhip is much more breeder friendly . they do however use an ofa hip extended view to look for djd , if your dog has it they will tell you that , again unless it's an old dog , or a severely dysplastic dog they're not going to have djd , regardless of whether they are dysplastic or not .
