We appreciate this show of support tremendously! Thank you very much!

I am thrilled to have this opportunity to tell you a little bit about the American Bulldog Registry and Archives and will be most happy to answer any questions that you may have.

The American Bulldog Registry and Archives was established in 1999 by Tony Mancera, Tony has been collecting American Bulldog pedigrees for 15 years, the ABRA now has over 7000 American Bulldogs in the ABRA pedigree database.

The first ABRA registered litter was born July 18, 1999 out of Rawhide's Hector the Protector ABRA #1087-01 and Watchdog's Sleeper ABRA #1086-01.

The first ABRA registered American Bulldog is KMK's King Mufassa ABRA #1002-00 born July 24, 1997.

Lance and I also own Dog Resources/American Bulldog Resources (est 1998) and Rebel Rose American Bulldogs(we bought our first dog from Mr. John D Johnson in December 1998), we purchased the Registry from Tony in January 2005. We had our first litter in July 2001 and registered it ABRA and have registered our subsequent 13 litters with the ABRA too. We are proud of most of the animals that we have produced but sometimes we are disappointed and we have learned many things over the years about keeping many animals, breeding, running a business, marketing and promotion and are still learning, we thoroughly enjoy the challenge that each new day brings! (We have 4 kids too!!)

The ABRA is a business, it is not a non-profit organization, while we don't expect to make a profit in the beginning but our long term goal is that the ABRA will provide us with a steady income stream. Having said that we know that in order for a business to be successful it must have credibility and respect in the eyes of its customers, and in order to maintain the respect and credibility that we have earned over the years from the AB community we will continue to offer a valuable service at a fair price, delivering accurate pedigrees and registration certificates and maintaining and developing the pedigree database, a list of earned points, keeping a roster of fair, honest and reliable judges, training new judges, and sanctioning conformation shows hosted by individuals and clubs that have the same standards.

We will promote the WABA in order to offer meaningful, well respected Breed Suitability testing and Obedience titles. We will encourage the participation of the WABA at all ABRA sanctioned shows but we realize that due to the high cost of transportation and the laws of the land regarding bite work it may not always be possible for show hosts to have WABA judges and decoys at every show.

For more information on available titles and testing requirements please visit the WABA website.

We will promote Irondog International and try to have an Irondog at every ABRA event, again sometimes the cost may be prohibitive.

We will also encourage an APA weightpull at every ABRA show.

Why Choose ABRA?

Advantages of registering ABRA...

We are listening!

We can be reached by both phone and email and we guarantee a fast turn around on submitted applications.

ABRA registration certificates have a picture of the dog on them.

The ABRA will document all of the dogs accomplishments on the certificate, for example if your dog is an NKC CH, ABA CH, and a CKC CH you can add it to your ABRA certificate, we will also list health screening results and working titles.

Applications can be mailed, emailed or faxed to us.

If you are a breeder the ABRA will offer you more advantages than fast turn around time on certificates, free litter registration and email/telephone support.

We are the only registry that offers a 25% discount on American Bulldog Resources products with Kennel Registration.

Kennel logos can be added to your Kennel Registration Certificate.

ABRA Registered Kennels will be highlighted on American Bulldog Resources.

As our policy is to keep the kennels name as the prefix on all puppies produced by that kennel, kennel recognition will be established if your pups go on to win conformation championships and working titles.

This quarter I have registered 390 dogs, the first quarter of 2005 I registered 187 dogs, that is an increase of more than 200%, the ABRA is growing very quickly for a few reasons, #1, the promotion on American Bulldog Resources, my efforts in communication to the AB community via email and messageboards and most importantly repeat business!

My future plans are to add detail to the standard including diagrams to make it more understandable. The new show season is about to begin and we have 8 shows lined up (in Europe) so my goal date for this project is near the end of 2006. And I have to give a point value to the working titles so that they can be added to the breeder accomplishment ranking. I still have to complete the test for the apprentice judges.

Once again, thank you very much for this opportunity and your questions and comments are welcome.

PS. The cost to register your dog with the ABRA is $15 USD, the cost to register at a show is 1/2 but the shows that are happening this year were booked before I increased the price from $12 so the cost to register at the European shows this year is $6 USD if you are entering the show and if the applications and documents are submitted to me before the show, that way I can mail all of the certificates to the show host and you can pick up your certificate at the show, if I have to mail each certificate individually directly to your home becuase you did not submit your registration application before the show I have to charge an extra $3 USD for postage (I apologise but the postage is very expensive to Europe) REMEMBER LITTER REGISTRATION is free so if you have had litters recently, on the ground now or coming up you can get your Dam, Sire and puppies all registered for free!

I send a temporary registration certificate to you for each puppy, you give that certificate to the new owner and it is the new owner that sends it back to me with the new name(your kennel name must stay at the beginning), a photograph and $15 USD and I will change the ownership, make a permanent registration certificate with a picture of the dog on it and mail it back to them. The temporary puppy certificates may be brought to the show with a photograph and we will accept them for $6 if you are entering the show.

We will not register unpapered dogs (maybe they were stolen?) or dogs that do not have a full 3 generation pedigree and we will only register dogs by the name on the paper, dogs names will not change when the dogs change owners.

I hope you all give us some consideration but I want you to know that I do realize that some of you are very loyal to your current registry and I respect that and I can only hope for the same loyalty from our customers in time.
